Cape Coral is located in Southwest Florida on the Gulf of Mexico.
he city is separated from Fort Myers by the Coloosahatchee River.
By European standards, Cape Coral is a young city. In 1957 the brothers Leonard and Jack Rosen brothers started to convert the land they owned north of the Caloosahatchee River into a true waterway wonderland. The first properties were built in 1958. Thanks to a marketing campaign the city grew very fast. In 1964 Cape Coral Bridge was built which connects Cape Coral with Fort Myers. In total, Cape Coral offers 640 km of waterways and canals, some of them with access to the Gulf of Mexico.
The climate is mild and warm, mostly with a light breeze from the sea. The highest temperatures are reached from May through October. Right now Cape Coral has about 180'000 residents.
